Miley Cyrus Gets Real About Her Decision Not to Have Kids
Miley Cyrus isn't following the Hollywood script when it comes to life milestones—and that includes having kids. In a refreshingly honest moment, the singer made it clear that motherhood just isn't in her immediate plans.
In a candid interview with The New York Times, the Grammy-winning artist shared her honest views on motherhood, revealing that raising children has never been a personal priority.
The singer recalled a conversation with her stepfather, actor Dominic Purcell, who once asked, "Why are you the only celebrity without a makeup line?" Her answer: "Because I’m not passionate about it."
She then drew a comparison between that sentiment and her perspective on parenting. "I feel that way about motherhood. It's just never been something that I've been overly passionate about," she explained.
To Cyrus, the decision to have children is one that requires deep dedication. "It's a lot of responsibility, and devotion, and energy," she said. "And if you're not passionate about that, I don't know how you do sleepless nights and 18 years of what my mom dealt with."
"And when I say 18 years, I mean 33, 'cause I'm still a baby," she added. "So I've never felt the burn, you know? And I think for me, the burn is everything."
