Selena Gomez Agrees with Lil Dicky’s Claim That She and Taylor Swift Ended Up Engaged to ‘Good Dudes’
After nearly two decades of friendship, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are sharing a new milestone together. Gomez recently reflected on their long bond and revealed that both stars became engaged around the same time, celebrating what she called one of the “coolest” moments in their friendship.
Selena Gomez says her friendship with Taylor Swift has endured years of career highs, heartbreaks, and personal growth. Now, the two pop stars share another milestone.
The singer and actress spoke about her longtime friendship with Swift during an appearance on the podcast "Friends Keep Secrets." The show is hosted by her husband, music producer Benny Blanco, alongside Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco.

Reflecting on a Long Friendship
During the conversation, Blanco asked Gomez if she and Swift ever pause to reflect on how far their lives have come. “Do you guys ever sit there and you're just like, ‘I can't believe this is our life now from where you were?’” Blanco asked.
Gomez responded that their conversations tend to focus less on success and more on the experiences they have shared. “It's moreso that wow we survived it as best as we could because it's literally all we talk about,” the "Only Murders in the Building" actress said.
The two stars first became friends in 2008. Over the years, they have supported each other through career changes, public scrutiny, and personal relationships.
Gomez explained that their conversations about the past rarely revolve around fame or accomplishments. “When we talk about it we're not like, ‘Look at this prosperity.’ It's moreso like actually this is so cool that you get it,” she explained. “It's absolutely unbelievable to come from 17 years of friendship, from multiple heartbreaks and love stories and fun stories in life.”
Engagements Happening Around the Same Time
One of the most surprising developments in their friendship, Gomez said, came when both women became engaged within a similar timeframe. Both Gomez and Swift got engaged around the same time.
Gomez revealed her engagement to Blanco in December 2024. Swift later announced her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce in August 2025.
For Gomez, the timing made the milestone even more meaningful. Lil Dicky, whose real name is David Burd, noted during the conversation that both women appeared to have found supportive partners. “You both ended up with good dudes,” he suggested.
Gomez agreed. “I agree... I'm very lucky,” she said.
Celebrating Together
Swift played a special role in Gomez’s wedding celebration with Blanco. In September 2025, the pop superstar attended the couple’s wedding in California.
She also delivered a speech during the reception, highlighting the close relationship the two have maintained for nearly two decades.
The moment reflected the kind of support the two singers have publicly shown for each other throughout their careers. Both have often spoken about the importance of their friendship in navigating the pressures of fame and personal life.
A Friendship Built Over Time
Gomez and Swift first connected during the late 2000s, a time when both were emerging young stars in the music industry. Their friendship continued to grow as their careers expanded into new areas, including acting, producing, and global tours.
Over the years, the pair have appeared together at award shows, celebrated personal milestones, and frequently expressed admiration for one another in interviews and social media posts.
As Gomez reflected on their journey together, she emphasized that surviving the ups and downs of life and career has been the real achievement.
Their engagement milestone, she suggested, feels less like a culmination and more like another chapter in a long friendship.
After nearly 17 years of shared memories, Gomez said the most remarkable part is still having someone who understands every stage of the journey.
For Gomez and Swift, that connection continues to be one of the constants in lives that have otherwise changed dramatically.
