The couple, who moved from the United States to Byron Bay nearly a decade ago, recently shared rare details about their day-to-day life with their three kids, India Rose, 13, and 11-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan.
According to Hemsworth, life in Australia is slower and it allows his family to be closer to nature and to have more space.

“It feels like summer all year round where we live,” Hemsworth told People exclusively, adding that their home includes “a big plot of land, a farm with horses,” where the kids “surf and fish and ride motorbikes all day.” He joked that he and Pataky “pretty much do the same.”
Life Outdoors, Together
The family moved to Australia in 2015 and settled in Byron Bay, a coastal town known for surfing and outdoor living. Pataky says being surrounded by nature plays a big role in how they raise their kids.
“It’s just being able to enjoy nature,” she explained. “When we go to a city, it’s hard for us as a family, because we live outside, basically.” She added that the family is “in contact with nature all the time.”

The adventurous couple often keep their life private, but their recent comments offer a glimpse into their family routines, which mostly involve outdoor activities and just spending time together, away from the busy and fast-paced world of Hollywood.
Balancing Family and Marriage
Hemsworth has also spoken openly about how family life can affect a long-term relationship. During a recent podcast appearance, the Thor actor said one of the challenges in their marriage is finding time for each other, especially when work and parenting take up most of it.
“I think the complicated times have been when it’s been all work, all kids, and all of a sudden the ‘us’ in the relationship is sort of non-existent,” he said. He explained that making time for each other, away from schedules and responsibilities, helps keep their connection strong.

For Hemsworth, humor and shared experiences are key. “When there’s humor involved, when there’s adventure, when there’s curiosity, when there's openness to kind of make a fool of yourself and self-deprecation and all that," he said, that’s when their relationship feels strongest.
He also believes that while the spark and attraction between him and his wife have always been there, it's the companionship and friendship that matter in the end.
For Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, raising their kids in Australia appears to be about simplicity, shared time, and staying grounded. As Hemsworth made clear, for their family, life Down Under has come with no regrets—only benefits.
