Nick Jonas Says 'The Lion King' Makes Him Cry
During a panel for "Power Ballad" at New York City's 92NY on May 18, 2026, Jonas joined his costar Paul Rudd and director John Carney for a conversation with Josh Horowitz.
When Horowitz asked whether any songs or movies made him emotional, Jonas first pointed to his new film, saying two scenes that did not feature him affected him strongly as a father. The Hollywood star said:
"Then, outside of that, when I cry over a movie, it's 'The Lion King.'"

The 33-year-old explained that watching movies with Malti had made some childhood favorites feel different. Jonas added that he was now sharing stories that shaped him with his daughter, which made the experience especially meaningful.
"It's a totally special thing to experience," he shared. The musical star also joked that he "always" cried during movies on planes, suggesting that the setting made him even more emotional.

Fatherhood Has Changed the Way He Sees Stories
Jonas shares Malti with his wife, Priyanka Chopra. The couple welcomed their daughter in January 2022, and both have spoken openly about how parenthood changed their lives.
For Jonas, revisiting films like "The Lion King" has become more than a nostalgic experience. Watching them with his daughter has allowed him to see the themes of family, loss, courage, and identity through the eyes of a parent.

Chopra said they wanted Malti to have as much privacy and anonymity as possible as she grew older, while also helping her understand that public attention was part of her normal life.
The actor said there were parts of "Power Ballad" that also struck him because of that same fatherly perspective. While he did not reveal too much about the scenes, he hinted that the film carried emotional weight around family.

Priyanka Chopra Has Also Spoken About Raising Malti
In April 2026, Chopra appeared on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, where she discussed how she and Jonas navigated sharing their daughter with the public.
The actress explained that they initially used emojis to cover Malti's face in photos. However, after their daughter was photographed in public, including at Jonas' Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, the couple began rethinking how to handle her visibility.

Chopra said they wanted Malti to have as much privacy and anonymity as possible as she grew older, while also helping her understand that public attention was part of her normal life.
She added that giving Malti "a sense of choice" would be important. In a separate interview with "Vogue Arabia," Chopra described her husband as a "very hands-on" father, adding:
"Our baby is like a magnet to us, and we run to her wherever we are in the world."
The actress also said her daughter had become the center of her world, calling Malti the best thing she had accomplished and a reflection of the best parts of both parents.
For Nick Jonas, that deep bond now appears to shape even the simplest moments, including sitting down with his daughter to watch a Disney movie he already knows will make him tear up.
