"I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast," she began. When King asked how hard it felt to utter those words, Knowles got quite choked up
"I'm getting emotional because it was like, you know, I've always tried to take care of myself and I just, was in disbelief," she admitted.

Knowles was supposed to have a mammogram during the COVID-19 pandemic, but missed the appointment, and forgot to reschedule. She ended up having one in 2024, and that's when doctors discovered two tumors.
One was benign, but the other was diagnosed as stage one breast cancer. Knowles initially believed stage one was the earliest stage, but after speaking with her sister, she learned there was a stage zero.

"So if I had gone for my mammogram, I would've got it at the zero stage," she said. Luckily, the tumor was "still very small" and hadn't spread significantly.
She underwent a lumpectomy to have it removed. Prior to her surgery, her children—including Beyoncé and Solange—and family members gathered to comfort her.
"I was nervous. And so they just started just joking with me," Knowles said. Solange started showing her funny videos, and they all sang "Walk with Me" together, a hymn that holds special meaning in Knowles' heart.
"They sung that song, and I went in there feeling, just like God's got me," she said, teary-eyed. Months after her surgery, she was honored at Glamour's 2024 Women of the Year event in October.
