Tina Knowles Praises Blue Ivy Carter's Confidence
On May 19, 2026, Tina attended the Gracie Awards, where she received an honor for the audiobook version of "Matriarch." During the event, she reflected on seeing Blue Ivy at the Met Gala and said the 14-year-old reminded her of Beyoncé. She shared:
"She's just like her mama because she's a huge talent, and because she is very poised."

For Tina, Blue Ivy's composure stood out as much as her fashion. She admitted that the Met Gala red carpet would have been difficult for her to handle, making her granddaughter's confidence even more impressive.
"I mean, the Met Gala, I couldn't do it," the 72-year-old said. "And so I was like, 'Look how poised she is on the red carpet and how she knows exactly what she wants.' Yeah, it made me very proud."

The comparison also carried a deeper family meaning. At 14, Blue Ivy is close to the age Beyoncé was when Girl's Tyme, the Texas-based group that also included Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett, was on the path to becoming Destiny's Child.

Blue Ivy Makes Her Met Gala Debut
Blue Ivy attended her first Met Gala alongside Beyoncé and Jay-Z, arriving near the end of the night as the family brought a polished and glamorous presence to the event.
Beyoncé, who served as one of the gala's co-chairs, returned to the Met Gala after 10 years away. She wore a skeletal-inspired look with a matching headpiece and dramatic feathered cape by Olivier Rousteing.

Although Blue Ivy's appearance surprised some observers, minors have attended the event when accompanied by their parents, despite previous reports that the gala had introduced an age limit.

Blue Ivy Has Been Building Her Own Public Image
Blue Ivy Carter is the eldest of Beyoncé and Jay-Z's three children. The couple also shares 8-year-old twins Rumi and Sir. Tina is also a grandmother to Solange's son, Daniel "Julez" Smith Jr., who is 21.
While Blue Ivy is still young, she has already stepped into several high-profile spaces. She appeared during Beyoncé's halftime show performance and joined moments from the 2025 "Cowboy Carter" Tour.

Her fashion choices have also drawn attention. In February, she attended the 2026 Super Bowl with Jay-Z and Rumi while wearing an oversize Off-White varsity jacket, a white logo shirt, dark-wash jeans, tan boots, sunglasses, and a denim Balenciaga purse.

In December 2025, she wore retro wedge sneakers to a basketball game in Los Angeles, echoing a similar style Beyoncé had worn years earlier.

She also appeared with Tina at the 27th Annual Angel Ball in New York City in October 2025, wearing a shiny pink dress with a diamond choker necklace and a pink feathered shawl.
For Tina, however, the Met Gala moment seemed to capture something beyond style. It was a glimpse of a young performer growing more comfortable in the spotlight — and a reminder of the star power that runs in the family.
