Sabrina Carpenter, 27, has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man she alleges has been stalking her. The order was granted by a Los Angeles county court on Monday, June 1.

The court has barred William Applegate, 31, from coming within 100 yards of Carpenter's Hollywood Hills home, as well as her sister Sarah and Sarah's partner, both of whom reside at the same address.

Carpenter filed the civil harassment restraining order in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, May 29. In her complaint, the singer details a series of chilling incidents that prompted the legal action.

Among them, Carpenter alleges that Applegate approached her front door and forcibly attempted to open it on May 23 — an incident described as an escalation of stalking behavior that reportedly began around April 20.

According to a declaration submitted by Los Angeles police detective Peter Doomanis, Applegate allegedly trespassed onto a neighboring property to bypass Carpenter's security fence, made his way to her front door, and "forcefully pushed down" on the lever.

Upon finding it locked, he allegedly knocked and rang the doorbell. When a security guard confronted him shortly afterward, Applegate reportedly struck the guard.

Footage from a Ring security camera, obtained by NBC News, shows a man identified as Applegate at Carpenter's front door being confronted by a guard armed with a flashlight.

Applegate was told to leave but refused, insisting he knew Carpenter and that she was expecting him — claims that were swiftly dismissed as "outrageous and entirely false." He did not leave until police arrived.

Doomanis, a threat management expert, wrote that Applegate had developed a deeply disturbing and irrational fixation on the pop star. And despite being arrested on suspicion of trespassing on May 23, Carpenter claims he returned to her neighborhood within hours.

According to the filing, he reappeared less than 24 hours after his arrest and lingered outside her home for an extended period. He is said to have been driving a Toyota Prius, which he parked near the property, reclining his seat to make himself harder to spot.

From that vantage point, he allegedly surveilled the residence. He returned again on May 25, parking outside her home once more — this time only leaving after police arrived.

In the aftermath, Carpenter's security team is said to have determined that Applegate had been parking in the surrounding neighborhood and edging "progressively closer" to her home since approximately April 20.

"His delusional insistence that he knows me and was expected by me is indicative of a dangerous, delusional, and irrational fixation on me," Carpenter wrote in her declaration.

The restraining order extends beyond her home, covering her workplace and vehicle as well. It prohibits Applegate from harassing, intimidating, threatening, contacting, or stalking her in any form.

The LAPD has forwarded its trespassing case and related allegations from the May 23 incident to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office to determine whether formal charges will be filed.

A follow-up hearing on extending the stay-away order is scheduled for June 17, with Applegate due in criminal court the following day, June 18, on the trespassing charge.
