The royal family may be on the verge of a long-awaited reunion — and this time, it could include the grandchildren that King Charles has barely had the chance to know.

King Charles has reportedly invited Prince Harry, Meghan, and their children to stay at a royal estate during their upcoming trip to the United Kingdom.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be planning to cross the Atlantic with their children in July for the one-year countdown celebration to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, an adaptive sporting competition for wounded service personnel and veterans.
People reported on Friday, June 19, that Charles extended the offer of accommodation at a royal estate, though no response has been received.

It is not the first time the King has made such a gesture. He previously offered Harry a place at Buckingham Palace on several occasions, which the Duke declined.
The news spread quickly on social media, with royal watchers weighing in. Many expressed hope that the offer signals a step toward reconciliation between Harry and his father.

"Good! That's your son! Those are your grandkids! Make it right!" one person urged. "Of course he did because good parents never give up on their kids 🌟," another wrote.
"It's about time he stepped up as a father & showed kindness to his son! Life is too short," a third remarked. "May they all finally heal and forgive. That's all that matters in the end," someone else added.

People also noted that even if the family stays at a royal residence, no additional security arrangements would be put in place, as those decisions fall under the jurisdiction of the Home Office.
Following their departure from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan lost their publicly funded police protection. Harry has since pursued legal action to have it reinstated, citing serious safety concerns whenever he returns to the UK.

As news of the visit emerged, attention also turned to whether Meghan would come face-to-face with members of the royal family she has publicly criticized.
Royal experts told Page Six that the characteristically diplomatic Charles would be open to seeing Meghan and would not turn her away — though any such meeting would be conducted privately, with no press present.

The Sussexes are expected to spend a week in the UK for "Year to Go" festivities ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
While People noted that no additional security provisions would be made, the Daily Mail reported that Harry's protection is believed to have been upgraded following his protracted legal battle with the British government.

In January, a government source indicated that his security had effectively been approved. "It's now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is nailed on for Harry," the source said.
However, Harry's legal team has confirmed they are still awaiting a formal update from the Home Office.
Those close to both sides say there is little question that Charles is eager to spend time with his grandchildren. He has met Archie, 7, only a handful of times and has seen Lilibet, 5, just once.
Royal biographer and family friend Hugo Vickers expressed confidence that a reunion will happen. "I am sure he will see the children," he said. "The king has always left the door wide open, and he did see Harry last September."
Vickers went on to underscore the broader stakes of a potential reconciliation. "It's a good idea that Harry should reconcile privately with his father, for both their sakes."
"The king made it clear that he didn't want his last years to be miserable, and Harry is burdened with enough trauma that, if Charles died without them making peace, that would just cause him even more problems."
