Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo Reportedly Ignored Legal Advice About Having Children After Their Divorce

Court documents show the exiting couple is dividing far more than just their assets. And despite the split, the pair are moving forward with a plan that has stunned fans.

Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll, whose legal names are Alisa and Jason DeFord, have officially finalized their divorce after nearly a decade of marriage. The news arrives roughly a month after their split first made headlines and sparked a wave of divided reactions online.

An insider revealed on Friday, July 17, that the pair had quietly finalized the divorce on the very same day Jelly dropped his emotional new music video for "Hands Up."

While the specifics of the settlement remain confidential, court documents show that Jelly, 41, and Bunnie, 46, will divide an extensive list of shared property, including their homes, vehicles, an aircraft and their intellectual properties, per TMZ.

As part of the arrangement, Jelly will make a one-time, confidential lump sum payment to Bunnie, effectively closing the door on any future alimony claims.

Not long after news of the split first surfaced, Bunnie broke her silence and revealed that she and Jelly are "still having a baby together."

"We're going to co-parent together. J is my best friend. Like, this isn't what you guys think this is," Bunnie said during a since-deleted June 18 episode of "Dumb Blonde." "Nobody cheated on the other person. It's literally just we served our purpose for each other."

In the days following the finalization, reports surfaced claiming that Jelly and Bunnie brushed aside warnings from their legal teams against having children together post-divorce.

According to their Marriage Dissolution Agreement (MDA), obtained by Page Six, both parties confirmed they had received "separate" counsel from their respective attorneys regarding their continued desire to have a child together.

Per the MDA, the former couple acknowledged being told "there may be consequences pertaining to this Agreement with respect to their genetic materials, due to evolving technology and case law; as well as the 'interim category' of interest afforded to said genetic materials."

The two went on to admit that their attorneys "are not experts with regard to genetic and reproductive rights."

They had also each been "directed and advised to obtain independent advice from qualified expert counsel in genetics and reproductive law prior to signing this Agreement."

Despite this, the former couple "specifically" opted against consulting more specialized attorneys on the matter, the court documents state.

During the July 18 episode of her podcast, Bunnie opened up about her fertility struggles, revealing she underwent multiple rounds of IVF and lost four embryos while married to Jelly. "It wrecked me emotionally, spiritually, physically," she told her listeners.

Still, earlier this year, she disclosed in her memoir "Stripped Down" that she and Jelly had secured a surrogate and were hoping to welcome twins. "I've waited this long to have kids with someone I knew would be a great father — and to be able to make sure they have the best life," she wrote.

The podcaster also revealed that, under the terms of the settlement, she plans to move into their compound alongside their future child. "I'm so excited to live my life through a child's eyes, which is why this baby journey, I'm not going to let it break me, and I'm not going to deter it," she said.

"And J has been so [expletive] great about us still having a baby together, and he wants the same thing," she continued at the time. "And we're just going to raise little Nugget as one big happy family."
