Keith Urban Altered Love Song Once About Nicole Kidman, Dedicating It to Guitarist Maggie
Just days before news of his divorce from Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban performed "The Fighter" with a twist — changing the lyrics to include his guitarist's name.
A recent Keith Urban performance has resurfaced following his split from Nicole Kidman. The 57-year-old country singer drew attention after altering the lyrics to his hit song "The Fighter," originally recorded with Carrie Underwood.
During the performance, Urban swapped the original line, "When they're tryna get to you, baby I'll be the fighter," with, "When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I'll be your guitar player."
The lyric change came as Urban performed alongside guitarist Maggie Baugh, who shared the clip on Instagram. Baugh, 25, captioned the video with emojis and wrote, "Did he just say that👀," as the moment spread across social media.
The performance took place days before news of Urban and Kidman's separation became public. On September 29, People confirmed the couple had ended their 19-year marriage. Court filings the next day showed Kidman, 58, citing irreconcilable differences and listing September 30 as the date of separation.
