PEOPLE obtained Blackstock's death certificate, certified by the Butte-Silver Bow County Clerk and Recorder's office in Butte, Montana, on Wednesday August 13, and filed the following day. The document confirmed that Blackstock died at 11:03 a.m. under hospice care.

It also stated that he had lived with cancer for three years and experienced seizures that were listed as "significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause." According to the certificate, no autopsy was performed and Blackstock's body was cremated.
