A representative for Duff confirmed the split, saying the couple “ended their relationship around the first of the year,” and asked for privacy as the actress and her former partner focus on their two daughters.
The former couple first got engaged on April 1, 2014, after dating for about a year and a half. Over the years, they built a life together and welcomed two children: Ryan Ava Erhard, now 10, and Lulu Gray, 7. Despite their long engagement, the pair never formally tied the knot.

Wedding Plans Delayed as Family Grew
Duff had previously spoken about the decision to postpone wedding plans as their family expanded. In a 2018 interview with PEOPLE, she explained how life with young children made it difficult to prioritize a ceremony.
“We talk about it and think, ‘Maybe now we're ready to do it’ and then life happens and toddler happens,” Duff said at the time. “Maybe after the craziness of a new baby dies down we'll be ready to talk about it again.”
That delay ultimately stretched on for years, as the couple focused on raising their daughters. Duff also shared in past interviews that she felt fulfilled as a mother, noting she was especially happy to have two girls.

Family Dynamics and Public Attention
Duff, the older sister of actress and singer Hilary Duff, has long been part of a close-knit family that has also experienced public ups and downs. The sisters were known to be particularly close growing up, often describing each other as best friends while navigating their careers and motherhood.
Hilary Duff, who has four children of her own, released her sixth studio album "Luck... or Something" in February. One track, "We Don’t Talk," drew attention for lyrics that appeared to reference a strained sibling relationship.

In the song, Hilary sings, “Cause we come from the same home, the same blood / A different combination, but the same lock / We don't talk / We don't talk / Talk about it / We don't talk about anything anymore.” The lyrics also include lines suggesting uncertainty about when the distance began and hinting at possible jealousy.

Neither Haylie nor Hilary has publicly confirmed the inspiration behind the song, and neither has commented directly on speculation surrounding their relationship.

Rumors of Distance Between the Sisters
The Duff family has faced challenges in the past. Their parents divorced in 2008, a period that reportedly marked the beginning of changes within the family dynamic. By 2019, there were rumors that Haylie and Hilary had grown apart, though both had previously spoken positively about one another.
In recent years, Haylie relocated her family to Austin, Texas, a move that placed physical distance between the sisters. Despite the speculation, neither has publicly addressed the current state of their relationship.
Haylie also stepped away from social media for the month of February, returning on March 12 with a post that featured photos of her daughters in a field of bluebells. She did not include commentary about her personal life or the recent developments.

A Quiet Split and Focus on Family
The confirmation of Hailey's split from Matt marks a significant personal shift, though details surrounding the breakup remain limited.
She has not issued a personal statement about the separation, and Matt has also remained out of the public eye. The pair had largely kept their relationship private over the years, sharing only occasional glimpses of family life.
While the couple never made it down the aisle, they built a family together and navigated years of shared life before ultimately parting ways. As Hailey steps into this new phase, attention remains on her role as a mother and the evolving dynamics within her well-known family.
