Netizens React to Donald Trump Tripping While Boarding Air Force One
The President of the United States (POTUS) stumbled as he made his way onto the aircraft, sparking reactions online. The incident follows his remarks on whether he would invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807.
On Sunday, May 8, 2025, President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio boarded Air Force One en route to Camp David.

Trump was the first to ascend the stairs to the aircraft entrance. As he made his way, the president tripped but quickly recovered and continued his ascent. Rubio followed, and also stumbled but quickly steadied himself as well.
A clip of the incident has circulated widely on the internet, with netizens sharing their reactions.
"See! Karma! He made fun of Biden tripping! 😂," a viewer exclaimed. "What goes around comes around fr.!" another said. "Gravity, do better next time!!!!" a commenter sarcastically remarked.
"But when this happened to Biden..he was mocked and considered incompetent. Double standards," another wrote. "Didn't he laugh at Biden for doing the same thing [sic]," someone else asked.
Joe Biden did suffer multiple stumbles on aircraft stairs during his presidency and Trump repeatedly mocked him for it. "Joe Biden can't even walk up a flight of stairs on Air Force One," Trump said during an address in July 2023.
Prior to boarding Air Force One, the POTUS had spoken to reporters who asked if he would invoke the Insurrection Act in response to the eruption of protests against ICE raids in Los Angeles.
"Depends on whether or not there is an insurrection," he responded. When asked if he believed there was an insurrection taking place, he said, "No, no, but you have violent people. And we're not going to let them get away with it."
A reporter then asked if he would deploy troops without invoking the Insurrection Act, and the president confirmed there would be "troops everywhere." As of Sunday, Trump has deployed the National Guard in Los Angeles in response to the protest.
