Seth Rogen’s Wife Lauren Miller Says She’s ‘Not Bothered’ Directing His Kissing Scenes with Anna Kendrick

Lauren Miller has no issue watching her husband lock lips with other actresses on screen — she's had years of practice. This time, though, she was the one calling the shots from behind the camera.

Lauren Miller, 45, is completely unbothered by watching other women kiss her husband, Seth Rogen, especially when she's the one directing the scene. That was exactly the case on the set of their new film, "Babies," which also stars Anna Kendrick, 41.

"Listen, I have watched him make out with beautiful women for literally decades at this point," Lauren told People at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. "So it's nothing new to add another beautiful woman to that list."

The trio sat down for an interview at the PEOPLE/Entertainment Weekly/Shutterstock studio in Toronto recently as they premiered their new movie.

The film marks Lauren's second outing as a writer-director, and it stars Seth and Anna as a married couple wrestling with whether to have children. "No, if anything, Lauren was like 'Get in there,'" Anna said, recalling the scenes in which she and Seth share an on-screen kiss.

Lauren added, "I literally would be like, 'Can you be a little bit closer?' And I feel like everyone in our crew was like, 'Lauren is really not bothered by this at all.' So yeah, it was great."

Seth and Lauren have been married since 2011. The couple first met through mutual friends back in 2005, and Lauren has since appeared in several of Seth's comedies, including "Superbad," "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," "Observe and Report," and "Sausage Party."

Over the years, Seth has spoken candidly in interviews about the his and Lauren's decision not to have children, which is part of why Lauren considers "Babies" to be "a very personal story."

"I think as women or just humans in general, you get asked the question — are you going to have kids? Being in a long-term healthy relationship, we certainly got that a lot," she said.

Lauren originally envisioned "Babies" as a television series, drawing inspiration from a period in their lives when two of their close friends got divorced and one moved in with them with her small child.

"That seemed like a good setup for the show," she shared. "But I think I thought of it as a show because I didn't know the answer. Because I was still very much questioning: are we going to have kids?"

She added, "But when we eventually arrived at the answer of no, we are not, I feel like it had an ending and so therefore, it was going to be a movie and it was personal."

"So all the things that drove that decision were a part of the movie from my friendships, to my parents, to my partner," Lauren continued. "It's scary, but also wonderful and cathartic and fun and crazy to bring it to life."

Seth explained that he's always aimed to "write as personal work as you can," pointing to "Superbad" — the first screenplay he ever wrote — as an early example of that approach.

In that film, leads Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) are named after himself and longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg, who loosely modeled the story on their own high school years.

"I think it's very brave to write something very honest and I was really thrilled that she was taking something so personal and turning it into a film about a thing that I hadn't really seen before," Seth said of Lauren's work on "Babies."

He added, "And I thought that the way that our relationship is reflected in the movie and the world surrounding us, it all feels very honest, which I think is all you can really go for."
