Kelly Clarkson Spotted in Public for the First Time Since Ex-husband’s Death
The "Since U Been Gone" singer's appearance comes weeks after she laid the father of her children to rest following his battle with cancer. Prior to his passing, she had postponed the August dates of her Las Vegas residency.
Kelly Clarkson was seen arriving at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday, August 24, in her first public outing since the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The "American Idol" winner was accompanied by her sister, Alyssa, and her children, River, 11, and Remy, 9.

In photos obtained by Page Six, she was dressed in an all-black outfit, featuring loose-fitting pants and a top layered with a cropped zip-up jacket. She accessorized with a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, small stud earrings, and a gold tarot card pendant necklace.
Clarkson hasn't been seen publicly since Blackstock's passing on August 7, 2025, following a quiet battle with melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer. Just the day before, she had announced that she was postponing the remainder of her Las Vegas residency.
"Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas," Clarkson wrote at the time. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them."
Clarkson shares her two kids with Blackstock. "I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding," she said. The following morning, a family spokesperson for Blackstock's family announced his passing.
