Teyana Taylor Ordered to Pay $70K to Ex-Husband After Contempt of Court Ruling
A judge reportedly ruled in favor of the "Gonna Love Me" singer's ex-husband after the former couple accused one another of violating their 2024 divorce judgment.
Teyana Taylor has been found in contempt of court and was ordered to pay $70,000 in legal fees to her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert. The verdict was entered on Tuesday, August 5, in Taylor and Shumpert's court battle over alleged violations of their 2024 divorce judgment.

According to US Weekly, the pair both accused each other of being in contempt of court and each demanded that the other be sentenced to jail time. However, Taylor later reportedly withdrew her incarceration plea.
Their hearing took place on Friday, July 25, with both Taylor and Shumpert present alongside their lawyers. Each presented their testimony, and the judge also heard from third-party witnesses and reviewed the evidence submitted.

The court ultimately denied Taylor's request to find Shumpert in contempt of court, per the order obtained by US Weekly. The judge stated that Taylor provided insufficient evidence to support her claim that Shumpert leaked the details of their divorce judgment to the press.
As for Taylor, however, Shumpert pointed to an Instagram Live session she hosted earlier this year, on March 19, in which she disclosed information about their divorce judgment. The judge agreed Taylor had violated a prohibition in the divorce agreement barring her from divulging any details.
"The court finds [Taylor] in violation of the Final Judgment and Decree of Divorce and is in willful contempt," the order read. Additionally, the judge denied Taylor's request for Shumpert to pay her legal fees.
The court also denied that Taylor be found in contempt for allegedly violating their parenting plan, as Shumpert failed to establish that her actions were "willfully contemptuous." The singer quietly filed for divorce from Shumpert in 2023. Their separation was finalized in June 2024.
