Black Sabbath Drummer Bill Ward Pays Tribute to Frontman Ozzy Osbourne
The 77-year-old co-founder of the iconic band bid farewell to the legendary "Prince of Darkness," who recently took his final breath. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news.
Longtime English drummer Bill Ward recently took to X to remember his Black Sabbath bandmate and late friend, Ozzy Osbourne. The rock vocalist passed away on July 22, 2025, years after battling Parkinson's disease and several other health issues.
"Where will I find you now?" Ward began in his tribute. "In the memories, our unspoken embraces, our missed phone calls, no, you're forever in my heart."
He continued, "Deepest condolences to Sharon and all family members. RIP Sincere regrets to all the fans. Never goodbye. Thank you forever." Ward included an old photo of himself and Osbourne from their early days as Black Sabbath.
He was an original founding member of the rock group in 1968, alongside Osbourne, lead guitarist Tommy Iommi, and bassist Geezer Butler. He eventually left after they recorded their album "Heaven and Hell" in 1980, but rejoined the band intermittently over the years.
The last time he reunited with the Black Sabbath was at Osbourne's final performance on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, where the singer bid farewell to his fans. Upon his passing, his family released a statement.
"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time," they wrote.
