Suspect Arrested After Attempted Break-In at Windsor Castle — Details

The British Royal family's ancestral home was the center of a crime scene last weekend when a man entered the estate grounds unauthorized. Police have since revealed details of the incident.

According to a spokesperson for the Thames Valley Police, who spoke with People, the incident occurred last Sunday afternoon, June 1.

A man entered restricted Windsor Castle grounds just after 1 p.m., and was quickly apprehended by authorities. "He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle," the spokesperson told People.

"He was arrested on suspicion of trespass on a secure site and possession of class A drugs. He has been bailed and an investigation is ongoing by Thames Valley Police," they concluded.

The publication also spoke with Metropolitan Police, who clarified that they arrested the suspect—said to be in his 30s—before he was handed over to the custody of Thames Valley Police.

At this time, it remains unclear if any royal family members were present when the incident transpired. Notably, those who reside on the Windsor Castle grounds include Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The family of five stays at Adelaide Cottage within Windsor Great Park, and it's not the first time their home became the target of a break-in.

In November 2024, news emerged that two burglars entered Windsor castle and managed to steal two vehicles: a black Isuzu pickup and a red quad bike. Police confirmed the theft took place the previous month, on October 13, but had yet to make any arrests at the time.
