Bobbie Mitchell Hospitalized and Husband Killed in Attack
Bobbie J. Mitchell and her husband, Fred Mitchell, were victims of an attack by a family member during the early hours of April 21. Fortunately, Bobbie is recovering; however, her husband has passed away.
At approximately 03:53 a.m., Lewisville Police Department officers responded to reports of an ongoing assault at Bobbie's residence. Upon arrival, authorities identified two victims, both of whom had sustained stab wounds.
The attacker, still present on the scene, was identified as Bobbie and Fred's grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher. He was arrested, booked into the Lewisville jail, and currently faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Bobbie and Fred were transported to a local hospital, where Fred tragically succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. Their home remains an active crime scene, and authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the attack.
Bobbie is the Denton County Commissioner for Precinct 3. She became Lewisville’s first Black mayor, elected into power in 1993. She resigned years later, in January 2000, to run for Commissioner.
She has been a resident of Lewisville since 1971, and shares two children with Fred: Darin, and Rhonda Reinacher. She also has nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Since the police statement was published, Mayor TJ Gilmore has provided an update, assuring the public that Bobbie has come out of surgery and is expected to fully recover. "Please give the family time and space for healing," he concluded.
