Huston explained that the diagnosis didn't come lightly. Naturally, she was shocked but soon realized what she shouldn't do and places she should avoid.

One of those places is taking life too seriously. She laughs whenever the chance arises and tries not to make a big deal out of things. Currently, her type of cancer, which she prefers to keep in private, is in remission. Huston expressed:

"I'm at the four-year mark, and that means so much to me. It's a fantastic thing. I'm very proud of myself, and I've been very lucky. My doctors have been wonderful."

While the experience has been personal, the 73-year-old has spoken about cancer before on the professional front. She once played the mother of a young man who was diagnosed with the disease in the cancer comedy, "50/50."

In a separate interview from several years ago, Huston revealed that her late husband, sculptor Robert Graham Jr., who died the year before, influenced her role in the film. She described the experience as a "deeply personal place."

Asked whether there were days in the film that hit too close to home, she said yes, explaining that being able to talk about cancer brought her a sense of relief. However, she acknowledged that at the same time, it was a painful experience.

"It's also a wonderful way of exorcising demons and pulling in the demons to have a closer look at them," said the Golden Globe Award winner.
