Dolly Parton has canceled her Las Vegas residency amid ongoing health concerns, but the iconic country star is staying positive — and characteristically funny — about it all.

The 80-year-old took to social media last month to break the news, reassuring fans she was doing okay despite the setback. "The good news is I'm responding really well to meds and treatments and I'm improving every day," she said.
"Now the bad news is, it's going to take me a little while before I'm up to stage-performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little bit swimmy headed, as my grandma used to say."

Ever the entertainer, Parton quickly found the humor in her situation. "And of course, I can't be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars, and such on five-inch heels — and you know that I'm going to be wearing them," she joked.
"Not to mention, all those heavy rhinestone outfits, the big hair, my big… uh, personality. Lord, those — that would make anybody swimmy headed!"
While she kept the specifics of her condition relatively private, Parton explained that she has long struggled with kidney stones, and that her immune and digestive systems had "got all out of whack over the past couple three years."

Treatment has been focused on strengthening those areas, and her doctors have assured her that all her ailments are treatable — news that has given her genuine hope.
Despite the health challenges, Parton made clear that she has no intention of slowing down permanently. She confirmed she is still working on opening a museum and hotel in Nashville, as well as her forthcoming Broadway production, "Dolly: A True Original Musical," set to open in New York later this year.
The response from fans was immediate and overwhelming.

"I'm convinced that this woman could solve any world problem just with her beautiful spirit and attitude. We love you Dolly! 🩷," one supporter wrote. "Love you Dolly, a light heart is the best medicine and you gave me some today 🙏💕," said another.
"What a charming angel you are. Thanks for the update!" a third gushed, while a fourth cheered, "This is the most adorable bad news announcement I've ever seen 🩷 the joy of the Lord is truly your strength, Dolly!"
Others chimed in with words of encouragement. "Dolly, please take care of yourself! You are such a treasure to us, whether you are singing or not. [...] Sending you so many healing hugs! You are so sweet and beautiful! 🩷🩷🩷," one fan added.

The update follows a postponement Parton announced last September, when she revealed she was dealing with unspecified health challenges.
She had originally been scheduled to perform six shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace as part of "Dolly: Live in Las Vegas" in December, timed alongside the National Finals Rodeo. Those dates were pushed to September before ultimately being canceled last month.

Even then, Parton struck an upbeat tone. "Don't worry about me quittin' the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet," she said at the time. "But I believe he is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you."
While she still performs on occasion, Parton hasn't embarked on a full tour since her "Pure & Simple Tour" wrapped in 2016 — making her Las Vegas residency a highly anticipated milestone that fans will now have to wait a little longer for.
