Hoda Kotb is continuing her extended return to NBC’s "Today" show as Savannah Guthrie remains away, searching for her mother, Nancy, who was reported missing in Arizona.

Kotb has co-anchored "Today" alongside Craig Melvin since February 6, 2026. She previously left the morning show in January 2025. Although she made brief appearances in the months that followed, this marks her first sustained return to the anchor desk.

Supporting a Beloved Colleague

Kotb and Melvin were originally scheduled to host NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. However, they canceled those plans to support Guthrie as she focuses on finding her mother.

“You know what, Craig? We always talk about our show as a family. We are a family,” Kotb said during the Monday, February 9, 2026 broadcast. “I'm part of the family. I'm happy to be with you because we show up for each other."

Her comments underscored the close relationship among the show’s hosts. Kotb and Guthrie have long shared a strong on-air partnership and personal friendship. Kotb’s return ensures continuity for viewers while Guthrie remains with her family.

Nancy, 84, was last seen on January 31, 2026, after having dinner with family. She was reported missing the following day after she failed to attend a virtual church service at a friend’s home.

The Ongoing Search in Arizona

Guthrie traveled to Tucson, Arizona, to join her siblings, Annie and Camron, in the search for their mother. As the search has stretched on for weeks, the family has acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Nancy’s disappearance.

After a month without answers, Guthrie and her siblings have said they are open to various possibilities. They have recognized that their mother may no longer be alive, while continuing to hope she will return home safely.

Authorities in Arizona have said they will continue searching for Nancy, even if the investigation takes more time. “Maybe it's an hour from now,” Nanos said. “Maybe it's weeks or months or years from now, but we won't quit. We're going to find Nancy. We're going to find this guy.”

His remarks came after several investigative efforts failed to produce immediate arrests. Law enforcement officials have not announced any confirmed suspects but have maintained that the case remains active.

A Show Carrying On

Back in New York, Kotb and Melvin have maintained the familiar rhythm of "Today" while acknowledging the difficult circumstances surrounding their colleague’s absence. Kotb’s presence has provided stability during a challenging time for the show’s team.

While Kotb previously stepped away from her regular hosting duties in early 2025, her current four-week stretch marks her longest continuous return since departing. Her decision to step back into the co-anchor role highlights the support system within the "Today" family.

As the search for Nancy continues, the show’s hosts have emphasized unity and resilience. For viewers, Kotb’s return represents both professional continuity and personal solidarity.

For now, Guthrie remains focused on her family in Arizona. Meanwhile, Kotb’s steady presence on "Today" reflects a newsroom rallying around one of its own during an uncertain and emotional time.
