Carla Jeffery’s Brother Reveals Last Text Message He Sent to Her Before She Died

The "Zombies" actress died earlier this week at age 33, leaving behind a legacy that touched both family and fans. Now, those closest to her are opening up about the void her absence has left behind.

Carla Jeffery's twin brother is remembering their last conversation before the actress tragically passed away earlier this week. Her manager, Carla Alexander, announced her death on Instagram on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. She was 33.

Carlon Jeffery took to his Instagram Stories to share part of his last text exchange with his sister before she died. "Hey sis, call me back when you get this," Carlon wrote. "I was just calling to see how your day went! I love you to the moon and back sis. 🌙♋️."

"I just want you to know how proud I am of you. Your resilience, your grace, your infectious smile that lights up a room," the text read. "You are truly a light that shines bright. Don't let anyone.. dim that light.. even yourself."

"The light you carry is special and must be protected at all times. You are the best sister a brother could ask for. I pray we continued to grow closer to one another along this journey," Carlon continued. "I got your back in this life and the next."

Carla built her career on Disney Channel, appearing in beloved programming such as "Shake It Up" and "Good Luck, Charlie" before joining the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise "Zombies."

She starred alongside Milo Manheim, Meg Donnelly, Chandler Kinney, Kylee Russell, Trevor Tordjman and more in "Zombies" as cheerleader Bree Prattle.

In light of her passing, her "Zombies" costars have shared touching tributes in memory of the late actress.

Milo, 25, memorialized Carla in a series of Instagram Stories posts. "Love you Carlaboo, the sweetest, kindest, most loving person," he captioned one, which showed him and Carla in their "Zombies 3" makeup.

In her own tribute, Chandler, 26, called Carla "the sweetest, most sparkly gal," adding, "You made every day better and brighter with your infectious positivity."

"I think part of why you brought such effervescence to bree (aside from your immense talent) is because that's really who you were in your heart; a bubbly, vivacious heart-of-gold cheerleader who loved nothing more than to uplift those around her," Chandler said.

"I feel so grateful to have known your love," she continued. "I'm going to miss laughing with you, and watching you break out your signature splits on any & every dance floor. you're a legend in my eyes, and your legacy of bringing joy and comfort to people everywhere will live on forever. I love you so much, CarlaBoo."

Meg also turned to Instagram to express her grief, admitting she still couldn't believe Carla was gone. "Carla is truly a one of a kind. The most strong-willed, beautiful person," Meg wrote alongside a carousel of clips and photos with Carla.

"The most contagious laugh i've ever heard. She deeply cares for the people she loves. genuinely the funniest person in the entire world, just radiating positivity. I feel so lucky to know carla jeffery. God, there is no one like her," she wrote.

Carla made her acting debut in Mo'Nique's "Phat Girlz" in 2006, when she was just 12 years old.

She went on to appear on hit shows including "Suburgatory," "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Scream Queens." Carla starred in the first three "Zombies" movies, released between 2018 and 2022, and later lent her voice to Bree in the 2024 series "Zombies: The Re-Animated Series."
