2026 Oscar Winners: See the Full List

A number of well-known figures served as presenters throughout the night. Among them were Rose Byrne, Nicole Kidman, Jimmy Kimmel, Delroy Lindo, Ewan McGregor, Wagner Moura, Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman, Lewis Pullman, Channing Tatum, and Sigourney Weaver.
Before the ceremony even began, one film had already made history. When nominations were announced on January 22, 2026, Ryan Coogler’s "Sinners" earned 16 nominations. The total set a new record for the most nominations for a single movie in Oscars history.

The previous record of 14 nominations was shared by three films: "All About Eve" in 1950, "Titanic" in 1997, and "La La Land" in 2016.

A New Category Joins the Oscars
This year’s ceremony featured 24 categories and introduced a new award: Best Casting. The inaugural Best Casting award went to Cassandra Kulukundis for "One Battle After Another." The film would go on to win six awards during the ceremony.
Several short-form projects also received recognition during the night. "All The Empty Rooms" won Best Documentary Short, while "Mr. Nobody Against Putin" earned the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature Film.

In the Best Live-Action Short Film category, the Academy announced a rare tie. Both "The Singers" and "Two People Exchanging Saliva" shared the award. Meanwhile, "The Girl Who Cried Pearls" won Best Animated Short Film.
Other acting categories also delivered notable victories. Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Weapons." Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her performance in "Hamnet."

Technical Categories Highlight Blockbuster Filmmaking
Several technical categories recognized films that stood out for their visual and production achievements. "Frankenstein" had a strong showing, winning Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Production Design.

In the visual effects category, "Avatar: Fire and Ash" took home the award for Best Visual Effects. Brad Pitt’s racing drama "F1" earned the Oscar for Best Sound.
The viral Netflix sensation "KPop Demon Hunters" also had a major night. The film won Best Animated Feature Film and secured Best Original Song for the track "Golden." In the international category, "Sentimental Value" from Norway won Best International Feature Film.

Major Acting and Screenplay Honors
"Sinners" began collecting awards when it won Best Original Score early in the ceremony. The film continued its winning streak with awards for Best Cinematography and Best Original Screenplay. Michael B. Jordan also earned Best Actor for his performance in the film.

Another standout of the evening was "One Battle After Another." In addition to Best Casting, the film won Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay. Paul Thomas Anderson received the Oscar for Best Director for his work on the film. Sean Penn also won Best Supporting Actor for his performance. The film ultimately capped off the night by winning Best Picture.
