Sarah Jessica Parker Accepts the Carol Burnett Award at the 2026 Golden Globes
Some careers are defined by reinvention. Others are defined by endurance. When Sarah Jessica Parker stepped into the spotlight at the 2026 Golden Globes, it was not just a celebration of a singular role or era, but of a professional life shaped by loyalty, risk-taking, and a rare sense of gratitude.
When Sarah Jessica Parker won her first Golden Globe in January 2000, she was already becoming synonymous with Carrie Bradshaw. The award recognized her performance on "Sex and the City", but the moment also entered fashion history.

Her strapless, nude-toned Richard Tyler gown shimmered its way into countless red carpet roundups and remains one of the most referenced looks of the era.
More than two decades later, Parker returned to the Golden Globes under very different circumstances. At the ceremony’s Golden Eve celebration, she was honored with the Carol Burnett Award, an accolade reserved for artists whose influence has shaped television in lasting ways.
Without deliberately recreating the past, Parker appeared to echo that earlier fashion moment, quietly reinforcing how closely her creative identity and personal style have evolved together.

A Career Built on Longstanding Relationships
Rather than centering her speech on accolades or milestones, Parker used the occasion to recognize the people who have remained constant throughout her career. In remarks marked by precision and warmth, she thanked her agent of 40 years, her business manager of 45 years, her publicist of 30 years, and her lawyer of 35 years.
The acknowledgments painted a portrait of an artist who values continuity in an industry often defined by change. That sense of shared history extended beyond her professional team. In the audience, familiar faces looked back at her, including former "Sex and the City" co-stars Kristen Davis, Evan Handler, and David Eigenberg, each representing a chapter of a story that has spanned decades.

Saying Yes to Carrie Bradshaw
Parker also reflected on the moment that altered the course of her career. She described the decision to take on "Sex and the City" as one guided by trust and timing rather than certainty.
“It’s the nature of the journeyman to move on, but in 1997 because [my agent] Kevin [Huvane] said I had to say ‘yes’ — I met Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbes, and I spent 25 years with the most glorious ensemble of women and actors, where we treated all of New York like CBS Television City and the streets like Studio 33," she shared.

Her words underscored how the series transformed New York into both a workplace and a character, blurring the line between set and city for years.
She also addressed the creative leaders who shaped Carrie’s journey. Thanking Darren Star, Parker acknowledged the enduring impact of being chosen for the role. She followed with heartfelt praise for Michael Patrick King, crediting him as both a guiding force and creative partner who explored every side of Carrie Bradshaw with care and intention.

Family at the Center of It All
The speech took a deeply personal turn when Parker spoke about her family and her life beyond the screen. She reflected on her marriage to Matthew Broderick, describing nearly 30 years together as both a partnership and an education. She said:
“To my beloved family, my brilliant husband Matthew, who has been my husband for just shy of 30 years, who has given me a family discount and an all-access pass to his masterclass in acting, comedy and dedication…and to the family we have made.”

She concluded by speaking directly about their children, James Wilkie, Loretta, and Tabitha, expressing pride in who they are becoming and how they inspire her both at home and at work.
At the 2026 Golden Globes, Sarah Jessica Parker did not simply accept an award. She offered a reflection on longevity, gratitude, and the people who make a lasting career possible.
