Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Shares Family Portrait to Celebrate the Holidays
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, offered a quiet but telling glimpse into her family life this holiday season, choosing an intimate outdoor portrait and a simple message to mark the end of the year while subtly underscoring what matters most to her and Prince Harry today.
The Duchess of Sussex shared a new family photograph on Instagram featuring Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, alongside a brief Christmas greeting. The image captures a tender moment rather than a formal pose, reflecting a relaxed and personal approach to the holidays.

In the photo, six-year-old Prince Archie is seen hugging his father, while Meghan bends down to hold hands with four-year-old Princess Lilibet. The family stands together on a small wooden bridge surrounded by woodland, creating a calm, natural backdrop that contrasts with the traditional palace settings often associated with royal family images.
Meghan accompanied the photo with a simple message that read, "Happy Holidays! From our family to yours." The understated caption echoed the warmth of the image itself, emphasizing connection and togetherness rather than ceremony.
A Season of Reflection and Giving
Beyond the family portrait, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also released a Christmas card and an end-of-year video highlighting their charitable work throughout the year.
The nearly two-minute video offers a look at the causes the couple has supported through their foundation, while also including moments with their children.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet appear in the video helping their parents bake cookies ahead of Thanksgiving with a local charity. The scenes show the young children participating in hands-on activities, reinforcing the couple’s focus on involving their family in acts of service from an early age.
The video centers on the work of the couple’s charitable organization, previously known as the Archewell Foundation. The organization has now been rebranded as Archewell Philanthropies, a change that was announced on the Archewell website.
The charity was established in 2020, following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to step down from their royal duties and relocate to the United States. Since then, Archewell has supported initiatives focused on community building, mental health, and social impact.
The rebrand signals a renewed commitment to those causes while emphasizing the role their family plays in shaping their work and values.
A Message for the Season
The couple’s Christmas card carried a more formal message, extending holiday wishes on behalf of their office and charitable organization. The message read, "On behalf of the Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Archewell, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year."
The timing of the Sussexes’ holiday releases coincided with similar announcements from other members of the royal family. A day earlier, the Prince and Princess of Wales unveiled their own Christmas card featuring a family portrait surrounded by daffodils, alongside their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Earlier this month, King Charles III and Queen Camilla also shared their annual Christmas card, featuring a photograph taken during a visit to Rome, Italy.
A Personal Note Amid Royal Traditions
While royal holiday cards often follow long-standing traditions, Meghan’s family portrait stands out for its informal tone and emphasis on everyday moments.
By sharing a quiet scene in nature and pairing it with a message of goodwill, the Duchess of Sussex offered a holiday greeting that feels personal, reflective, and rooted in family values.
As the year draws to a close, the image serves as both a celebration of the season and a reminder of the path the Sussex family has chosen, one that places family life and philanthropy at the center of their public presence.
