Shawn Mendes Goes Instagram Official With Girlfriend Bruna Marquezine

Shawn Mendes is done keeping his love life under wraps. The singer chose his girlfriend's birthday as the moment to finally go public with their relationship.

Shawn Mendes is ready to make his love known. The "Stitches" hitmaker took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 4, to celebrate a special occasion: his girlfriend Bruna Marquezine's birthday, officially confirming their relationship for the first time.

Mendes's tribute featured a carousel of clips and photos of the pair at Casa Amarela Providencia in Rio de Janeiro.

The post opened with footage of Marquezine walking down a flight of stairs before being greeted by a group of excited children, who rushed over to embrace her. Another clip captured the Brazilian actress and model singing and dancing as the children appeared to serenade her with "Happy Birthday."

Mendes also included a video of himself grinning and posing alongside two children at the same location. The carousel wrapped up with a photo of Marquezine smiling for the camera while holding her dog close.

"Feliz aniversário my baby 🪽♥️," Mendes began in the caption accompanying the post.

"You are a light and a mãe in every room you walk into. Not to be tooooo sappy but you've truly changed my life and I am so so grateful for you," he continued. He followed that with a tender note in Portuguese: "Eu te amo muito muito muitoo," which translates to "I love you so, so, so much."

"We all do amor… & thank you @casaamarelaprovidencia for what you're doing!" the singer added, giving a nod to the charitable organization hosting their visit.

Mendes and Marquezine were first romantically linked in December 2025, after being spotted vacationing together in Brazil. The following month, they made their bond public with a PDA-filled outing in Los Angeles.

During that appearance, the couple was seen beaming and embracing warmly inside a grocery store. In the eight months since rumors first surfaced, they've been photographed together in both the United States and Marquezine's native Brazil.

Before Marquezine, Mendes's last known romance was with Sabrina Carpenter. The two sparked dating speculation in February 2023 after being photographed running errands together.

The following month, they were seen leaving Miley Cyrus's party celebrating the release of her album "Endless Summer Vacation."

Prior to that, Mendes had an on-and-off relationship with Camila Cabello from 2019 to 2023, splitting for the first time in 2021 before briefly reuniting two years later.

Mendes typically keeps his personal life guarded, but he offered a rare glimpse into his approach to dating during an October 2024 concert in Colorado. He told the crowd he's been working to remove the "pressure" of searching for "The One."

"When you're single, there's this pressure of looking for 'The One,' who's 'The One?'... Damn, that's a lot of pressure to put on someone when you first start dating," he told the audience, according to footage shared on TikTok.

"For me, I've just been trying to take that pressure off of whoever, and just allow myself to experience the love that is happening in that moment, wherever and however that's happening. Man, we all need a little bit of cuddling, a little bit of hugging," he added.
