A shocking tragedy has shaken Hollywood and left a celebrated film legacy under a dark cloud, as investigators work to understand the devastating events that unfolded inside Rob Reiner’s Los Angeles home.

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, were found dead inside their Brentwood, Los Angeles, home on Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2025. Authorities confirmed the discovery after emergency calls were made to the Los Angeles Fire Department at approximately 3:30 p.m.

First responders arrived at the residence and found a man and a woman deceased. The victims were later identified as Rob and Michele.

Daughter Discovered the Couple

The couple was discovered by their daughter, Romy Reiner, who found her parents inside the home and contacted police. According to law enforcement sources, Romy told authorities that a family member was responsible for the deaths.

Cause of Death and Investigation Details

Sources told TMZ that Rob and Michele suffered fatal injuries consistent with knife wounds. Officials have not released graphic details and have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.

Son Arrested in Connection With Murders

According to People, the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, was questioned by police in connection with the deaths and has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Investigators have not disclosed whether an argument occurred before the incident or whether additional circumstances contributed to the fatal outcome.

Nick Reiner’s History of Addiction

Nick has previously spoken openly about his struggles with drug addiction, dating back to at least 2016. His experiences later inspired the semi-autobiographical film "Being Charlie," which he co-wrote.
