Kirk was killed during the first stop of his American Comeback Tour in Orem, Utah—a moment that stunned supporters and sparked national debate. In a preview of an interview airing Wednesday on Fox News, Erika became emotional while recalling her first glimpse of her husband after the shooting.
"When we walked into that room … he had this smirk on his face," she said, wiping away tears. She described it as a defiant expression—one she interpreted as a silent message to those who tried to silence him. "You got my body; you didn’t get my soul," she said.

The interview marks Erika's most detailed public statement since her husband’s death. She spoke about the surreal atmosphere in the hospital and the weight of those first moments.
Online, the emotional recounting drew mixed reactions.“This is the best acting I have ever seen—well, maybe second best,” someone wrote. Another commenter questioned the timing, posting, “Damage control after the Vance hug.”

One person took a jab at Erika's past public appearances, asking, "Did she wear her leather grieving pants when she went to see him?" Despite the criticism, Erika's interview is likely to draw attention from both supporters and skeptics as the political fallout from Kirk's assassination continues to unfold.
