Katy Perry ‘Didn’t Expect to Fall’ for Someone Else So Soon, Source Says

The "Teenage Dream" hitmaker recently went public with her romance with the former prime minister of Canada. The pair had sparked dating rumors back in July, just one month after the end of her engagement.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau made their first public appearance as a couple on Saturday, October 25. The pair were celebrating the "Dark Horse" singer's 41st birthday in Paris, France, where they enjoyed a cabaret show at Crazy Horse Paris.

For the evening, Perry donned a stunning form-fitting red gown with thin straps and a square neckline that accentuated her shoulders. The dress featured a sleek, floor-length silhouette with a subtle slit at the hem.

She completed the look with black heels, a small black handbag, and her hair styled in a neat bun, highlighting her statement silver earrings. Beside her, Trudeau opted for a relaxed style, dressed in a classic all-black ensemble.

He wore a tailored black suit paired with a black crewneck shirt underneath and polished tie-up dress shoes. His look was completed with his signature, slightly tousled hair. After the show, the lovebirds were photographed leaving the venue hand in hand.

Both appeared to be in good spirits as they headed to their waiting vehicle and drove away. Their outing comes amid Perry's "Lifetimes" World Tour, which is currently on its European leg.

"She's focused on her tour, and Justin has made a real effort to meet her where she is — literally," a source close to Perry told People. "She's flattered. He's shown that he's committed and really cares about spending time with her."

"It's clear that he values the connection, and so does Katy. She's in a great place," the insider added. Perry was first romantically linked with Trudeau in late July after they were spotted on a dinner date in Montreal.

The sighting came about one month after multiple sources confirmed that the singer and her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, had gone their separate ways. Their representatives eventually confirmed the breakup in early July.

Days after Perry was seen with her new beau in Montreal, the politician was spotted enjoying himself at one of her concerts. The two weren't seen together for a while afterward, until photos of them kissing on a yacht emerged earlier this month.

"Dating Justin is something she never saw coming, but she's really enjoying this surprising life twist," the insider said of Perry. A second source noted that, despite their busy schedules, the pair are committed to making time for one another.

"They both have busy schedules but make time for each other and have a really strong connection," the second source shared. "Katy didn't expect to fall for somebody so soon, but Justin checks all the boxes. He has a great sense of humor, he's charming and treats her with respect."

Trudeau was also previously married to former TV host Sophie Grégoire Trudeau for 18 years. The former couple — who share three children, sons Xavier, 17, and Hadrien, 11, and daughter Ella-Grace, 16 — announced their separation in 2023, but have remained on good terms since.
