Justin Trudeau's Estranged Wife Sophie Reflects on Love and Grief After Photos Confirm His Relationship with Katy Perry
The retired television host took to social media to share a message about letting go. Her post comes shortly after new photos of her estranged husband vacationing with his rumored new girlfriend were released.
Sophie Grégoire Trudeau is getting candid about grief and love, more than two years after she and her estranged husband, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, announced their separation.

The media personality took to Instagram on Monday, October 13, to share a heartfelt message about letting go. "[...] Sometimes we forget that nothing we love was ever meant to be kept," Sophie began.
"The people, the places, even the moments that once felt — I don't know — infinite? Right? Time asks us not to cling to them, and yet we do. I do," she admitted. "Because to hold on feels safer than to let go. But love was never about possession; it was about presence."

"The present moment," she continued. "And when we release what we cannot keep, we make space for the truth of connection, intimacy, the memory, you know? For the lesson. For the way a single smile can echo across a lifetime."
"Grief also lives there," Sophie added, sharing that she lost her father in the past year and has learned that "with grief also comes grace." "So maybe love's deepest teaching is this: to stand open-hearted in the face of impermanence," she mused.

"To honor what has been and trust that letting go is also a form of keeping, inside us, where no loss can erase it in a way."
The 50-year-old then encouraged her followers to take a breath and reflect on someone or something they had to release and how it "still lives inside" of them. "That is love's endurance," she concluded. "That is what carries us forward."
Sophie's post comes after she and Justin announced they were separating in August 2023 following 18 years of marriage. At the time, they said they planned to remain a close family with "deep love and respect" for one another, as they share three children: sons Xavier, 17, and Hadrien, 11, and daughter Ella-Grace, 16.
Justin has since moved on from their marriage with singer Katy Perry. The two were first romantically linked in July, when they were photographed on a date in Montreal. Perry had also ended her engagement to Orlando Bloom one month prior.
Most recently, on Sunday, October 12, the "Teenage Dream" hitmaker was photographed cozying up with Justin on her yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, confirming months-long rumors about their romance.
The Daily Mail obtained photos of the pair packing on the PDA as they enjoyed their time together. The images were provided by a passenger on a passing tourist boat at the end of September, while Perry was enjoying a break from her "Lifetimes" world tour.
"She pulled up her boat next to a small public whale-watching boat, then they started making out," the witness told the outlet. "I didn't realize who she was with until I saw the tattoo on the guy's arm and I immediately realized it was Justin Trudeau."
Prior to the release of the photos, sources said the pair were "in the very early stages" of "exploring a romance." One insider told the Daily Mail, "Katy is very, very interested in [Justin]. She says he's a real catch, a high-quality guy. She clearly likes him a lot. He likes her a lot."
