Justin Trudeau Spends Time with Estranged Wife After Photos Confirm His New Romance with Katy Perry

The former Prime Minister of Canada enjoyed some quality time with his estranged wife and children as they celebrated Thanksgiving earlier this week. The former couple announced their separation in 2023.

Justin Trudeau was seen celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday, October 13, alongside his estranged wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. The former Prime Minister appeared in an Instagram Stories post shared by Sophie that same day.

Sophie began with a photo of a serene riverscape under a partly cloudy sky around noon. Above the image, she wrote, "Lucky to be alive, loved and most of all for Thanksgiving! Sending you Light."

She followed with a photo of a dinner table beautifully set for Thanksgiving dinner. Sophie then posted an image of several serving bowls filled with a mouthwatering selection of foods, including turkey, mashed potatoes, and peas.

Finally, she shared a photo of a beaming Justin standing in between their son, Hadrien, and an older woman who smiled softly. Sophie’s posts came after the Daily Mail published photos of her ex-husband cozying up to his reported new girlfriend, Katy Perry, on Sunday, October 12.

The images, reportedly taken by a passenger who was on a tourist boat, were captured at the end of September when Katy was enjoying a brief break from her "Lifetimes" tour. The pictures showed Justin and Katy packing on the PDA aboard the singer’s yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara.

Katy wore a black one-piece bathing suit, while Justin was bare-chested in jeans. "She pulled up her boat next to a small public whale-watching boat, then they started making out," the witness told the Daily Mail.

"I didn't realize who she was with until I saw the tattoo on the guy's arm and I immediately realized it was Justin Trudeau," the witness said, referring to Justin’s distinctive "Haida raven" tattoo on his upper left arm — a tribute to an indigenous Canadian people.

The sighting came following months of dating rumors that began in July, when the pair were photographed on a date in Montreal. Although neither has publicly confirmed their relationship, Katy recently alluded to the romance during a show in the U.K.

When a fan proposed to her onstage, she laughed and replied, "You know, you really should've asked me about 48 hours ago." She later quipped, "London, England, you're like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school? No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time… but not anymore."

Katy’s alleged romance with Justin comes shortly after she ended her engagement with Orlando Bloom — with whom she shares a five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove — in June. The pair had been together for nearly ten years. Justin also separated from Sophie in August 2023.

The 53-year-old announced their breakup in a statement on Instagram. "Hi everyone. Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate," he wrote at the time.

"As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build," he continued. "For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy. Thank you."

The two — who also share son Xavier, 17, and daughter Ella-Grace, 16 — have indeed stayed true to their word and appear to be on good terms despite their breakup. The same can be said for Katy and Orlando, who reunited for a family vacation with their daughter after their split.
