He joined members of the nonprofit I AM ALS in meetings with U.S. lawmakers, including Rep. Frank Pallone of New Jersey. In a video shared on TikTok by Rep. Eric Swalwell of California, Dane reflected on the challenges of receiving an ALS diagnosis.
He said that delays in diagnosis often prevent patients from accessing clinical trials. "That's why ACT for ALS is so great," he explained, "because it broadens the access for everybody."
Dane said his biggest motivation in facing ALS is his daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, whom he shares with his wife, Rebecca Gayheart. He explained that he hopes to see them grow up, graduate, and start families of their own, and stressed that he intends to keep fighting the illness for as long as he can.
