
Donald Trump Speaks Out on Robert Redford’s Death
Robert Redford's passing has stirred reactions far beyond Hollywood. Among those weighing in was President Donald Trump, who offered his take on the screen legend's career and legacy.
Ahead of his state visit to the United Kingdom, President Donald Trump was asked about Robert Redford after news broke that the actor had died at home with his family.

"Well, it's a good way to go, I guess," Trump said. "Robert Redford was great. He had a series of years where there was nobody better."
When asked about his favorite Redford film, Trump replied, "You have a lot of them. He made seven or eight great films. There was a period when he was the hottest."

Redford, who had once described Trump's first administration as a "monarchy in disguise," died at the age of 89. His longtime publicist, Cindi Berger, confirmed his death on September 16, 2025.
"Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah – the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly," Berger said in a statement. "The family requests privacy."

Redford's career spanned decades, making him one of the most recognized figures in film history. He starred in acclaimed classics such as "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "All the President’s Men," while also earning an Academy Award for directing "Ordinary People" and later helming "A River Runs Through It."
His influence extended beyond acting and directing. In 1981, he founded the Sundance Institute, which went on to shape the landscape of independent cinema and launch the internationally renowned Sundance Film Festival.
