Princess Catherine and Prince William Attend the Duchess of Kent's Funeral Amidst Busy Schedule

Prince William and Princess Catherine attended the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, paying tribute to the late royal. The service at Westminster Cathedral brought together the family to honor her life and legacy.

Prince William and Princess Catherine took time from their demanding royal duties to attend the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, on September 16, 2025, joining family members in paying tribute to the late royal.

The service, held at Westminster Cathedral, was led by King Charles. Queen Camilla, who had planned to attend, was forced to withdraw at the last moment due to "acute sinusitis," according to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson.

Arriving at the cathedral shortly before 2 p.m., William and Catherine were warmly greeted by the dean before entering the solemn service.

The Princess of Wales chose a classic black ensemble, accented with a four-strand pearl choker featuring a diamond centerpiece — a cherished piece that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth and has been worn by Catherine to previous royal funerals, including those of the Queen in 2022 and Prince Philip in 2021.

Katharine, who married the Duke of Kent, Queen Elizabeth's cousin, passed away on September 4, 2025 at Kensington Palace at the age of 92. She is survived by her husband, their three children, and ten grandchildren.

The funeral was attended by numerous members of the royal family, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy Laurence, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Andrew with Sarah Ferguson, as well as Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, reflecting the widespread affection and respect held for the Duchess.
