Nina Dobrev and Shaun White Reportedly End Relationship After Five Years

The couple were last photographed together at the end of last month. Just days later, the "Vampire Diaries" alum walked the red carpet without her engagement ring.

Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have reportedly ended their relationship after six years of dating. The former champion snowboarder and longtime Canadian actress had been engaged for just under a year.

A source close to the couple told PEOPLE, "It was a mutual decision, and wasn't an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another." White and Dobrev had announced their engagement in October 2024.

They were last photographed together on August 31 of this year while running errands in Los Angeles. Dobrev then reappeared alone at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, September 7, and her engagement ring was notably missing.

Since news of the split broke, another source has shed light on the reasons behind the breakup. While it may come as a surprise to some, Dobrev and White are said to have been moving in different directions for a while and their priorities have shifted.

"Shaun is retired and has had his last Olympics, he was very ready for marriage and kids and all that comes from that," the insider explained to the Daily Mail, referencing the Beijing 2022 Winter Games.

"Nina was on board but also very interested in seeing where her acting career was going to go, as that was and is very important to her," they continued, adding that White had done some acting but has focused on entrepreneurship.

"As much as they had the same ideals and wanted to enjoy the same ride, they naturally couldn't come together on a common goal and that was the strain on their relationship," the insider added.
