Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming, says the decision to live separately was not easy but necessary to safeguard both his care and the well-being of their two young daughters.
Emma Heming Willis has addressed her family’s decision to move Bruce Willis into his own home as he continues to live with dementia. Speaking on Good Morning America with Michael Strahan on Tuesday, September 9, the 49-year-old author and caregiver advocate said the choice was difficult but necessary.

She explained that it was made not only with Bruce’s care in mind but also with the well-being of their two young daughters. Emma acknowledged that the move sparked debate online.
"I knew it would," she said. Still, she emphasized that the decision was final. "At the end of the day, it was the safest and best decision — not just for Bruce, but also for our two young girls."
She explained that the decision reassured her, since it guaranteed Bruce received constant care and that their daughters’ needs were also being met. Emma stressed that the matter was not something open to debate.
The decision, while discussed publicly, has drawn strong support from fans. One person wrote, "Bruce Willis is my most FAVORITE actor and human being. Such a kind, caring gentleman."
