The honor was given to Novak by Benjamin Millepied, known for his work as a dancer and choreographer. In a statement, the festival said the honor was intended to celebrate "the depth and influence" of Novak's career.
Organizers praised her for defying stereotypes and bringing an instinctive style to her performances, noting that her body of work has gained renewed recognition over time.

Her career also includes notable roles in "Picnic" (1955) alongside William Holden, "The Man with the Golden Arm" with Frank Sinatra, and the 1958 romance "Bell, Book and Candle," in which she reunited with James Stewart.
The ceremony preceded the screening of Kim Novak's "Vertigo," a new documentary by Alexandre O. Philippe that explores her career and legacy.
