According to copies of their death certificates obtained by PEOPLE, Kaye and Deluca died of multiple gunshot wounds on July 10, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m. Deluca died within seconds of being shot, while Kaye passed away minutes later from her injuries.
The manner of death for them both was ruled as a homicide. Although they sustained their fatal wounds on July 10, their certificates list their official date of death as July 14 at 4:14 p.m., when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department discovered them.
They were cremated on July 23. On the day of their murder, Kaye and Deluca had returned home from a grocery run when they encountered an intruder, a young man later identified as Raymond Boodarian.

Their door had been left unlocked and their alarm had been disabled. Shortly after he was discovered, Boodarian shot Kaye and Deluca multiple times in the head with a firearm believed to have belonged to the couple.
Police arrested the suspect on July 17, and he appeared in court dressed in a suicide-prevention gown days later on August 20. He is currently facing two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree residential burglary.
He is also being held without bail and is expected to appear in mental health court on September 3, after his public defender told the court that he is allegedly suicidal.
