New Autopsy Details Emerge in Death of 'Lilo & Stitch' Actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, 46
More than two months after the sudden death of "Lilo & Stitch" actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, newly released autopsy findings shed light on the health complications he faced in his final moments.
The autopsy report for David Hekili Kenui Bell, the "Lilo & Stitch" actor who died on June 12, 2025, has been released, revealing new information about the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to documents from the Hawaii Police Department, obtained by PEOPLE, the report was finalized more than two months after Bell passed away at age 46 on Hawaii's Big Island.
The report identified four major diagnoses: acute respiratory failure, sepsis, hypertensive and atherosclerotic heart disease, and morbid obesity.
Atherosclerosis is defined as the buildup of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and around artery walls. This plaque can narrow blood flow or rupture, which may lead to clotting.
The medical examiner also noted evidence of resuscitation efforts. Defibrillator pads were found on Bell's chest, along with an airway in his mouth, a blood pressure cuff on his upper arm, an IV line in his left arm, and an intraosseous needle — a device used to deliver fluids or medication through the bone marrow when intravenous access is difficult — in his lower leg.
Performed on June 19, 2025 and completed July 10, 2025 at Kona Community Hospital in Kealakekua, Hawaii, the autopsy also documented additional health conditions, including stasis dermatitis, a circulation-related skin disorder, and edema, or swelling caused by fluid buildup in the lower limbs.
Toxicology testing found no evidence of alcohol or drugs above reporting thresholds.
The report further noted that Bell had "complained of difficulty breathing" before his death. Classified as a "coroner's case," the report did not specify a cause or manner of death.
