"I'm just on the journey. ... It's a process. It'll probably be a process for the rest of my life," said Van Der Beek about his cancer status and the road ahead.

So far, he has made lifestyle changes, including being more physically active and trying out a keto diet. Beek mentioned that taking things easy and getting enough rest is now part of his daily routine.

Despite his health woes, he has continued to work. The 48-year-old Connecticut native will appear on the upcoming television series, "Elle." "The greatest thing about work is cancer doesn't exist between action and cut," Van Der Beek shared.

He was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2023. However, the celebrity only revealed his stage colorectal cancer diagnosis in November 2024.

Eight months later, he disclosed in an interview how he broke the news to his six children, whom he welcomed with his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek.

The couple wanted to be honest with their kids because they can sense when their father is not his best self. "They know if Dad's in pain. They know, and so by not telling them, I think you're confusing them even more," said the family man.
