Aaron Phypers Accuses Denise Richards of Substance Addiction amid Divorce

Denise Richards' estranged husband has come forward with not only drug abuse allegations, but also claims that the actress had an affair. His statements follow Richards’ own accusations that he was physically abusive.

Aaron Phypers is alleging that his estranged wife, Denise Richards, needs intervention for her alleged drug addiction. The 52-year-old released a letter detailing how her substance use has affected both her and their 14-year-old daughter, Eloise.

He published the letter via Page Six on Sunday, July 20. "For nearly a decade, she has struggled with an addiction to Vicodin (which she jokingly calls 'Vitamin D' or 'white chestnuts'), mixed with Adderall and tequila," he wrote to the publication.

"Some of you know this has been an issue for over 20 years. She's no longer eating real meals, and I've witnessed her pass out from substances — putting herself and others in danger, including while driving with our daughter," he continued.

Phypers further claimed that Richards has been involved in an affair, which he said he discovered earlier this year. "She begged me not to leave, saying it was nothing and that she only loved me," he alleged.

"Then, she denied it all — even the explicit messages I found. Despite her promise to stop, more lies and shocking evidence emerged," he continued. On the day they separated, July 4, Phypers claimed Richards physically assaulted him.

He recalled the "Wild Things" star accusing him of using her card when he ordered food for Eloise. Afterward, he said his phone "disappeared" and when he asked for it back, he claimed Richards "physically attacked" him.

After hours of searching, he eventually "found it smashed" at the bottom of a trash bag. When he asked why she damaged his phone, she allegedly denied doing it. Later that night, she informed him she was filing for divorce via text.

Phypers further claimed that he and his parents have experienced mistreatment after he filed for divorce first. He also denied the abuse allegations Richards leveled against him.
