Donald Trump Diagnosed with Medical Condition, Yet Physician Insists He's in 'Excellent Health'
The president’s recent health diagnosis follows reports of apparent bruising on his hand and swelling in his legs, as photos went viral.
During a media briefing on July 17, 2025, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed speculation that Donald Trump might be unwell.
Leavitt mentioned that to be transparent, Trump requested that she share details about his health in a note written by his physician, Sean Barbabella.
The politician underwent various examination tests, which included diagnostic vascular studies. They uncovered what Trump is going through, as Leavitt disclosed:
"Bilateral lower extremity venous doppler ultrasounds were performed and revealed chronic venous insufficiency, a benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70."
The Cleveland Clinic reportedly describes CVI as "a form of venous disease that occurs when veins in your legs are damaged. As a result, these veins can't manage blood flow as well as they should, and it's harder for blood in your legs to return to your heart."
Despite the 79-year-old's diagnosis, his physician, Barbella, stressed that "he remains in excellent health." It comes after photos of the politician showing swollen ankles at a soccer game over the weekend went viral. Days later, he appeared to be covering a bruise on his hand.
