Michael Jackson's Daughter Flags 'Irregular Payments' from His Estate, Expresses 'Serious' Concerns
The late superstar's second-oldest child raised her recent objections just over a month after defending herself for performing on the anniversary of his death.
Michael Jackson's only daughter, Paris Jackson, reportedly uncovered "irregular payments" being made by his estate, which raised "serious" questions for her. This prompted the actress to file a motion objecting to a request by the executors, John Branca and John McClain, for legal fees.
The said fees are for the work done for the estate between July and December 2018. As such, it took a while for the court to approve because of the complexity of the estate, of which the beneficiaries are Paris and her brothers, Prince and Bigi Jackson.
The 27-year-old model called out the executors for failing to provide "adequate responses to the court's inquiries or [making] a clear, enforceable commitment to bring these long-delayed fee petitions current."
In addition, Paris expressed her concern with the executor's way of granting "so-called" "premium payments" for unrecorded attorney time.
According to her lawyer, the executors requested the court to approve $625,000 in payments to three law firms during the stated dates. They claimed that it was for "uncaptured time" but failed to explain why such processes were not recorded or "why such a failure should not preclude payment."
Aside from fighting for her family's interests, the singer also had to defend herself from critics a month ago. They blasted her for scheduling a performance on the 16th anniversary of Michael's death, who died at 50 after suffering a heart attack in 2009.
Paris reportedly took to her Instagram Stories and acknowledged that the specific date June 25, was a somber one for her and her loved ones. She explained that it wasn't her decision to make about the set dates but the "big boss" was responsible for that.
