Horrifying Moment on Disney Cruise: Girl Falls Overboard, Dad Jumps In After
Panic swept a Disney Cruise Line ship when a young girl fell overboard, followed immediately by her father, who jumped in after her, before the crew pulled off a swift rescue.
An incident occurred on the Disney Cruise Lin ship "Disney Dream" on June 29, 2025 as it was returning to Fort Lauderdale following a four-night Bahamian cruise. The emergency code "Mr. M.O.B." (man overboard) was issued over the intercom, triggering an immediate rescue operation.
A Disney Cruise Line spokesperson confirmed that the incident indeed took place before commending their crew for the way they handled the situation. "We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes," they shared in a statement.
A passenger named Chandler, who asked to be identified by first name only, described the chaotic scene to PEOPLE. "There was some kind of commotion," she said. "Then this awful scream from what I assume is the mother and then this massive splash."
Chandler recalled the sound of the impact, saying, "It sounded like hitting pavement, nothing like if you jump into a pool, it was so loud."
Following the rescue, the ship's captain addressed passengers directly, confirming that two guests had gone overboard and were successfully pulled from the water. He emphasized continued safety measures for the remainder of the cruise.
Disney Cruise Line reiterated to PEOPLE, "We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols."
The identities and conditions of the rescued guests have not been publicly disclosed, but both were reportedly returned to the ship safely within minutes of the incident.
