Months after a very public split, the Grammy-winning star is choosing healing. She also revealed the hard-earned lesson the experience taught her about trusting her instincts.
Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about how she's processing her emotions after her split from NBA star Klay Thompson. The 31-year-old rapper announced their breakup on Instagram earlier this year and went on to accuse the athlete of infidelity.

In a new cover story interview with Marie Claire, published on Tuesday, September 29, Megan reflected on their separation and explained why she isn't looking to jump into another serious relationship anytime soon.
"I'm not pretending I'm 100 percent okay," Megan said. "I ain't never been through nothing like that in my whole life. I've never, ever, ever been in a relationship like that, ever. So I'm definitely not worried about another one for a long time."
The subject remains a sensitive one for the "Body" hitmaker, but she revealed that she's giving herself space to feel her emotions rather than rushing past them. After all, she explained, she's still grieving the loss of the future she believed she had found.
"It was so abrupt. I'm in shock still," she said of the split. Megan now believes she's better off on her own. When asked how she views love at this stage of her life, she replied, "I'm not thinking about anything romantic. I'm definitely not thinking about no damn relationship."
Megan and Klay were first romantically linked in early 2025 and went public with their relationship that July. In late April this yeae, Megan took to her Instagram Stories to announce that she and the Dallas Mavericks star had parted ways, shortly before revealing her early departure from "Moulin Rouge!"
She accused Klay of cheating, getting "cold feet" and having "HORRIBLE mood swings" during the basketball season, all while he had her "playing house" with his entire family. She also suggested that Thompson had told her monogamy might not be for him.

In a follow-up statement, she said, "Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
Now, the rapper has a clearer picture of what a healthy relationship should feel like.
"When something is meant for you, it's gonna be easy," Megan told Marie Claire. "It's gonna be right. It's not gonna feel like a panic all the time. I feel like that's what I was in, constantly on edge. My nervous system needed to calm down."
"I feel like I was in a panic 24/7," she continued. "I'm still not eating all the way right. I'm feeling all the feelings. I'm not trying to take no shortcuts."
According to Megan, the breakup also served as a powerful reminder to trust her intuition. "Sometimes I be knowing in my gut and in my heart, then you give so much benefit of the doubt," she explained. "No, the gut is always right. Listen."
For now, it seems the star is focused on healing at her own pace and putting her peace first.
