During a guest appearance to promote her new Netflix special "PostMortem," comedian Sarah Silverman shared an affectionate moment with longtime co-host Joy Behar that caught the audience, and even Behar, off guard.

"It's always fun to see you," Behar told Silverman. "I love seeing you!" Silverman responded warmly. As the segment wrapped up, Whoopi Goldberg chimed in, asking, "Do you want to do the goodbye?" Rather than delivering a typical sign-off, Silverman leaned in and kissed Behar on the lips.

The studio audience erupted in cheers, while Behar appeared momentarily stunned. Silverman, meanwhile, looked pleased with the impromptu smooch.

Silverman's appearance on "The View" was to promote her new Netflix comedy special, "PostMortem," which was born from personal grief and healing. In 2023, the comedian suffered the loss of both her father and stepmother, who died just nine days apart.

"I had spoken at my dad's [memorial], and, of course, there were a lot of funny things in there, because he was hilarious," she said in an interview. "So that was the starting point for starting over again with my stand-up. And it just grew and grew and built from there."

Her father and stepmother now share a tombstone engraved with the line: "Janice and Donald, who loved to laugh." It's that sentiment that Silverman aimed to channel throughout her special.
