Princess Diana’s Brother Speaks Out After Suspected Arson Attack on Her Childhood Home
A building within the late beloved royal's childhood home, near her final resting place, was set on fire earlier this week. Her family confirmed it's suspected to be a targeted arson attack, and new details have emerged.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 27, at Princess Diana's childhood estate, Althorp House, in Northamptonshire, England. The late royal was buried on the estate grounds following her death in 1997.

Her brother, the ninth Earl, Charles Spencer, announced that one of their farmhouses had been set ablaze in an Instagram Stories post, featuring a photo of the damaged building.
"Luckily unoccupied at the time - but still deeply disturbing that one of our farmhouses was torched by vandals last night. Sincere thanks to @northantsfire for trying to save it," he wrote.
The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service later clarified to People that, "The fire was at land on the Althorp estate in Mill Lane, Kingsthorpe, Northampton, rather than at Althorp House."
They responded to reports of a fire at this location around 1:30 a.m [local time] on Wednesday and began extinguishing the blaze. They also shared that one crew member remained on the scene that afternoon to put out any remaining fire.

In a post on X, Charles expressed disappointment over the incident. "So very sad that anyone would think this a fun thing to do," he wrote. People also spoke with Northamptonshire Police, who confirmed they were "investigating a suspected arson at a derelict farmhouse on the Althorp Estate in Mill Lane, Northampton."
"The fire, which was reported in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, May 28), is believed to have been started deliberately. However, the exact cause is yet to be determined," they told the publication.

Like Charles, the conservation manager at Althorp Estates, Adey Greeno, also expressed his frustration. "The farmhouse that we lost to a deliberate act of vandalism last night has now had to be razed to the ground for safety reasons. So sad. The world we live in," he lamented on X.
Police have urged anyone who saw any activity prior to the farmhouse fire to come forward with information.
