Country star Blake Shelton appeared on the American Music Awards telecast with a performance of his latest single, "Stay Country or Die Tryin," but those attending the event live didn't see it in person, prompting fans to speculate that his set was pre-recorded.

Dressed in a relaxed, all-denim outfit, Shelton delivered his performance as part of the broadcast segment, but he did not walk the red carpet or appear live at the venue. Viewers noticed the discrepancy, with several taking to social media to comment.

"Hey! People that were there said you didn't actually perform. They recorded the EMPTY stage while your 'performance' was going on. Was it recorded before?" one fan asked. Another echoed, "Probably would have been better if it hadn't been prerecorded and he was actually there like they implies but that's none of my business. [sic]"

Following his performance, Shelton returned during the telecast to introduce his wife, Gwen Stefani. Stefani delivered a high-energy medley featuring some of her biggest hits, including "Hollaback Girl," "The Sweet Escape," and her new single, "Swallow My Tears."

While some fans questioned the nature of Shelton's appearance, many praised his vocals and stage presence. "POWERFUL performance, why you are one of the greatest live performers out there 🙌, [sic]" one viewer commented.
