On Saturday, April 12, 2025, "Saturday Night Live" debuted its segment making fun of the third season of HBO's mega hit series, where rich people go on vacation and a murder or more are revealed at the end. However, they turned it political and called it "The White Potus," which sparked divided reactions from netizens.

The sketch series, also known as "SNL," has been no stranger to making fun of politics in one way or another during its 50-year run. After the 2024 US elections, they've included many segments where cast member James Austin Johnson plays the current president, Donald Trump.

In last Saturday's episode, he appeared in the cold open, and later in "The White Potus." The comedy show used HBO's hit series to draw parallels between Donald and his family, plus other members of his government. In the skit, Trump is Jason Isaacs' character, who looks sleepy the entire time.

His wife appears with a heavy Southern accent, although Melania Trump is from Slovenia. That becomes part of the joke when their sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, appear. Other political figures featured were Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., Vladimir Putin, and Marco Rubio.

Netizens were quick to react, but not everyone found the humor in it. One person wrote, "Shocker. Shows been trash for years [sic]." Another added, "SNL [expletive].. be more funny [sic]."

While this heated debate was happening, "The White Potus" ignited more backlash, regarding the mockery of actress Aimee Lou Wood. In the skit, most of the people are turned into political figures, except for her character, Chelsea.

In the skit, she is played by cast member Sarah Sherman, who makes fun of Aimee's teeth and accent. Fans online didn't like that at all.
